Pumpkin Melt Let’s melt crayons down the side of a pumpkin
Pumpkin Melt
Take a deep breath. Awe! Cool crisp autumn air.
Soon the air will be filled with smells of turkey and dressing, pumpkin spices and buttery bread.
I’m getting hungry already!
Anyone doing any nontraditional foods for Thanksgiving?

I made a non-traditional pumpkin for the Thanksgiving table.
Here’s a video showing the pumpkin melt for visual learners.
The video is cut to a shorter length. Patience is key in melting crayons. It’s sorta like watching paint dry while waiting for the heat to soften the crayon. Then when it reaches the right amount of “softness” it takes seconds to become runny.
Otherwise, the written instructions are below.
Supplies
Craft heat gun {A regular hair blow dryer sends crayon pieces across the room…I know…I tried :?}
Butcher knife
Cutting board
Wax paper
Pumpkin
Crayons {you can order a box of one color crayons from Amazon}
The steps
Lay the wax paper over the cutting board. This helps corral the crayon pieces. Using the butcher knife to chop the crayons. Cut into pieces about the size of small peas.
Place the pumpkin on another piece of wax paper…to protect your tabletop.
Place a pile of crayon bits in around the stem.
Turn on the heat gun and s~l~o~w~l~y move the gun to about 20 inches from the crayon bits. Then s~l~o~w~l~y move the gun closer.
It takes a moment for the crayon to get soft enough to melt, but a split second for the crayon to melt into a puddle.
Continue layering crayon pieces to get the look you want.
Warning the gun gets hot and the melted crayons are hot!! Use with caution.
If I would have looked at the crayons in my crayon box closer, the pumpkin might look Thanksgiving…
instead of Halloween!!
You can pick other colors from the crayon box!
Maybe we can come to the Thanksgiving table with our Halloween costumes on! Here’s is one nontraditional Thanksgiving dish I will be serving…Pink Stuff!
