Thrift Benefit for Shelter Animals
Thrift Benefit for Shelter Animals held by Country Design Style.
So I’ve started a new holiday!
Every first Saturday in October is the day to go shopping in your local thrift shop that sponsors a shelter or animal rescue.
Don’t you think that’s a great holiday? I can’t wait for the card companies to jump on the band wagon.
Since this is the first annual Thrift Benefit for Shelter Animals, I’m planning a month long series of events to help our little Humane Society of Central Arizona.
Starting off with shopping! I’ve invited local Hometalk blogging friends to join me for lunch in my home followed by a shopping adventure at our
The Humane Society Thrift Shop
Plus I’m inviting everyone {you’re included} to follow our shopping adventure on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. If you’re not following Country Design Style simply click above, below or the links in previous sentence. 😉 Of course, you will be shopping your local shelter sponsored thrift shop too!
All DIY bloggers can join the event nationwide too. Just leave a message in comments and I will add you to a list of bloggers who shopped and then wrote a post about your DIY thrift shop project. The list of DIY bloggers project post will go up with the video on October 22.
Call your local shelter or animal rescue in your area to find a thrift shop that sponsors them. Most communities will have at least one.
During the week of October 14 ~ 18 Country Design Style is co~hosting a blog tour with 24 other DIY bloggers to see what projects they created with the thrift shop finds.
On Tuesday October 22 there will be a Google Video on Hometalk Tuesday with 3 bloggers discussing how they were inspired by their thrift shop purchases and turned them into creative home decor. I will add a link to the video on October 22 in case you miss it.
Oh, if you don’t know Hometalk click over a check it out. I call it Pinterest for homes without all the hair and nails. 😀
Here’s the link to Country Design Style on Hometalk.
Did you know October is Adopt a shelter dog month?
I doing this to benefit all shelter animals across the country but also to help our little Humane Society that could, as I call it.
I am on the Kindred Spirits Committee for our Humane Society. We are a group that plan and implement fundraising events. The Humane Society of Central AZ is my charity of choice. It a comfort to know where and how donations are spent.

I have to put in a link to their Facebook page too! It makes me smile, laugh, cry and go awwwww!
This is a poster with picture of the old Humane Society of Central AZ. The building was literally held together with love.
Please take a moment to watch this heartwarming video “Remembering and Honoring Our Past, Present, and Future.” It features the old Humane Society, the demolition, and rebuilding of the new Humane Society. Plus beautiful photos of past and current shelter animals.
Think I can get Congress to make the Thrift Benefit for Shelter Animals a National holiday?
I don’t either, their playing recess!
