It’s spring!  In some neck of the woods!

Not ours.

So, I’m trying to get excited about the spring to come…

someday.

I stepped outside this morning to take pictures of our backyard lower level conversation outdoor space and it was windy.  So these pictures will have to do.

Now on to the home tour outdoor spaces.

By the way, if you’re here due to this photo on Pinterest please click here to read about aging wood instantly.  The pin goes viral on Pinterest at times AND the technique to make new wood look like old barn wood is incredible!

But if you want to see our unique backyard…keep reading. 🙂

outdoor-spaces-country-design-style-FPThis area is on our ground level stone patio.  The furniture was purchased four years ago and the cushions and pillows last week.

I have some sort of iron stand that holds a candle {flameless} or today I stuck in some flowers from the inside.

And if you look closely but below the flowers is a bit of red, it’s the…

hammockhammock!  My new favorite place to take a nap, I guess!  Too busy lately to nap.

The flowers will be on the bottom of the birdcage in about 30 minutes.

Then winter arrived with snow.  Then summer with the Arizona sun and the cushions looked…well awful!

So in with new cushions!

Except where do I find a large round cushion???

So I did!

And aged it with my favorite technique!

Our outdoor space is ready for company and…

Grinder-playhouse-country-design-style-3our strange little Bella.  I made this little door and two windows a few years ago to hang on a tree.  It was fun for awhile when nieces and nephews visit.  Then little Bella came to us last April and apparently just noticed the door and windows a few weeks ago.

Now when she’s in the backyard she’s usually standing at the door!

I think she’s waiting for a playmate to come out and play.  It’s the first place she runs to when the back door opens.

Outdoor-spaces-country-design-style-PNIt wouldn’t be a fun entertaining space without the company of dogs.

  1. First off I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to
ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself
and clear your mind prior to writing. I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.

I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Thank you!
