Easy Wood Coasters
There’s nothing like reading a newspaper, or more inspiring a favorite decorating magazine with a good cup of coffee.
Inspired and caffeined enough to start the day full of easy projects.
I like to “drink” my lunch in the summertime.
Okay, not the martini or strawberry daiquiri kind of drink.
Well, at least not of the wood cutting and power tools kind of day.
Hum, come to think of it I don’t do daiquiris on blogging days either.
Probably a good thing! 🙂
A nice glass of wine or baileys with a splash of Rum Chata is a great way to end a saw dusty day.
Of course, not everyday. At least for me.
Some evenings a cup of hot or a tall glass of iced tea fits perfect in my hand!
What doesn’t fit perfect on our furniture are the rings for the cups and glasses. I could not find coasters I liked even searching the internet.
So, I cut a piece of 1 by 4 board into squares. Aged the wood. Sanded the edges, then painted them with a dry brush technique. {sounds fancy, but it’s only barely dipping the brush into the paint, removing most on a paper towel and brushing across the wood}
I painted three coasters in colors in our living room. A crisp white, and creamy white and a light greyish green. The last one I left with the antiqued technique. If you haven’t tried the hot tea and “ironed vinegar” aging technique, you must!
You will not regret it!
Many things to drink and no more rings on our furniture.
What can I offer you to drink? What do you like in the evenings to drink and relax?
My disclaimer: I have not received compensation and/or products mentioned in this post. Products mentioned I purchased for myself, but I will share! 🙂
