osb board project
Oriented Strand Board {OSB} board is lumber used in construction.

It’s made by mixing small pieces of wood with glue.  Then press the mixture into large 4 by 8 sheets.  OSB is inside walls, flooring, and places you don’t see it.

I bought two sheets, cut them down, to use as supports under twin beds.

I could have tossed the leftovers in the trash…

but instead, I did this…

OSB Board Project

This project started with an old logo I made years ago.  I never used the logo except for the chandelier.  That chandelier is still with me and for some reason, I can’t let it go.

The ampersand I drew on the computer.  Hey, I could make an ampersand using OSB and leave the layers of scrap wood showing!  I like the texture and my head went, hmmm!

I cut the scrap OSB boards down to make three layers.  A sandwich!  With wood glue for the mustard.

After adding the ampersand to a page file and enlarging it, I printed it.  Then using carbon paper I traced the “&” on the OSB sandwich!  Although, my ampersand is the “E” style.  You can download a copy of the ampersand for your own “&” project.

Then started cutting out the shape using my…

jigsaw!  While I was cutting I kept thinking, “this will never stand upright!”

But it did!

With a bit of sanding, the ampersand is ready for the mantel.  I’ve been into raw or natural wood decor items.  My next project might be a natural wood shelf to hold my OSB Board project!

Now here’s a pin to share!

one board

There’s still a bit of OSB Board left…and ideas for another shape??

I keep thinking I’ll use the logo somewhere on the website.  If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them.

  1. LOVE IT! Love it! Love it!
It is endearing to make something that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Having 14… Almost 15 grands, I can think of initials, shapes, names & words . &&&&& the possibilities are endless. LOVE the chandelier!

PS I didn’t notice pop ups.

  2. I love your blog but the popup ads kept covering your content, and I doubt you want that. I had a hard time reading your post but I persevered. I am going to try this making a corbel. Thanks for the great idea!
