Put the lime in the coconut…dollar store vase
Put the lime in the coconut idea for a simple dollar store vase. Perfect for Taco Tuesdays or cocktail time. Limes, round vase, and cilantro. Easy! Plus more vase ideas.
We enjoy fresh Mexican food. We also enjoy limeade. Sometimes I like an adult limeade.
But back to the lime in the coconut idea!
We eat a ton of Mexican food. I like roasting peppers on the grill or even on the stove. A favorite meal of mine is chips and salsa with an adult limeade. Sorry, I when back to the limeade!
Anywho, can you imagine the surprise of your guest when they open your fridge and see a bouquet of cilantro!
Cilantro doesn’t last long. I’ve learned to trim and stems and add to a small vase of water. Then set in the fridge. This makes the cilantro last a couple more days. Not that cilantro is expensive, but I’m not a fan of running to the grocery store. I’m not a shopper. Unless it’s an antique or thrift store.
Now, back to that limeade!
This is the recipe I use.
8 to 10 limes or 10 to 12 key limes {those little limes}
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups cold water
The steps
- Remove limes from the fridge {or dig out of the vase} and bring to room temperature. You get more juice from room temperature limes than cold limes.
- Slice the limes in half and squeeze. I use these types of juicers. They work so well that many times the lime half turns inside out.
- Stir in the sugar. Give time for the sugar to dissolve.
- Stir in cool water.
- Pour over ice.
- Top with a piece of mint or cilantro!
- For an adult version, add a splash of your favorite liquor. I like a splash of lime vodka.
