There are two main differences between regular stencils and these transfers.
- The transfers have a sticky back. This gives a nice tight seal with your surface. The better the seal the crisper the lines.
- The transfers have a silk type area in the “open” spaces. The paste and ink are pushed down through the silk screen onto the surface.
This is a line of craft supplies to help create custom home decor fast. DIY signs are only the beginning. DIY signs are only the beginning. I’ve been creating pillows, furniture makeovers, and organization for our home. Watch for lots more unique ideas over the next few weeks.
What I love best about using this technique is there’s no pouncing paint with the paintbrush. Instead, you move the paste over the transfer using a squeegee. Well, I figure, I could make a dozen signs in the amount of time it would take to make one regular stencil sign.
If your mind is thinking dollar signs, well you’re right. How many DIY signs and pillow covers can you make in an hour? And yes, you can sell finished projects! Great side hustle for anyone interested in working from home.
The basic steps to make this sign
Pick a surface like the Board and Base pictured. Of course, you can use items around your home to add the transfers. Then pick a Transfer. This transfer is in the 5 by 7 size. Then pick a Chalkology paste in your favorite color. I used teal for the lettering and the flowers.
When used gray for the leaves.
A small squeegee applies the paste fast and easy. I overlapped some of the colors.

I made this easy craft sign in 30 minutes or less, I have plans to remake the sign using the transfer products. Plans for a completely different sign. Stay tuned.
