Winter Craft Snowman

Sharing helps others too!

There’s something about a stack of white plates that makes my heart go pitter-pat.

This winter craft snowman starts with my heart pitter-pat, pitter-pat…

The pitter-pat maybe because a stack of white plates means it’s almost time to eat!!! 😕

This time though the pitter-pat is due to a “man!”

Shhh!  Don’t tell Mike.

And can you blame me???  Just look at those twinkling button eyes.

Supplies to make a winter craft snowman

Stack of three different sized white plates
Three large dark buttons
Two smaller dark buttons
Strip of burlap for a scarf {mine is 20 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide}
Three large paper clips
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Stick up hooks for hanging {I used these, no damage to the wall}
A small knit cap or I let my snowman wear a boot topper.

The easy peasy steps!

First, use a dollop of hot glue to hold the paper clip on each plate.  I added the glue to the plate then pushed the paper clip into the glue.  Then added a bit more glue just to be sure.

Don’t worry about the glue on the back of your plates.  It will pop right off when your snowman melts! 😀

I have great success with these sticky hooks.  Since my work is sharing DIY ideas with you, I hang and take down lots of stuff.

I hung the bottom plate first.  I wanted the snowman to hang just above the mantel shelf.  Otherwise, I would have started with his head.

Notice I overlapped the plates a bit.  Next, I added the cap {boot topper} and hot glue the eyes.  Take a second and look in the mirror.  Isn’t it surprising that our eyes are pretty much in the center of our heads?

Then I hot glued the larger buttons down the plates.  The burlap “scarf” topped off the look.

My heart pitter pats every time I glance over at my new “man.”
