What:  An event to help bring awareness to thrift shops that sponsor animal shelters.

Why:  Humane Societies depend almost exclusively on donations to fund their operations.  Donations can be few and far between.  Opening a thrift shop is an additional way to receive steady donations.  Many people do not realize that thrift shops might be a sponsor of the organizations who provide care to sheltered and rescued animals.

How:  Shop in the thrift shops that sponsors a shelter or animal rescue.  Online bloggers write about their thrift shop treasures.

When:  First Saturday in October.  Online events continue throughout October.

Who:  Anyone can participant by shopping their local thrift shop that sponsors a shelter.  Donate items to shelter thrift shops.  Follow the online events.  Donate to your favorite shelter.

I’m working on making this a holiday!

To find a thrift shop that sponsors a shelter you can click Animal Based Charities and enter the name of your town or call your local shelter.
