Outdoor Chandelier

I’m running late on my posts, but I do eventually get around to almost everything I set my mind too.

We hosted a family gathering over Labor Day weekend.  We had 16 family members.

Two sets of twins 🙂 🙂

Three “new” family members we hadn’t met yet.

And our two furry family members!

It was a B~L~A~S~T!!

We stayed up way past my bedtime of 7:30! 😕

I’ve seen midnight for the last 5 nights and 5 am for the last 6 mornings.  Yawn!

At least our nights were lit by beautiful candlelight.

Outdoor chandelier lit up at night. Mason jars hold battery candles and cut flowers. Burlap is rustic and shabby along the bottom. Fun for our family gatherings. Country Design Style www.countrydesignstyle.com

This huge 3 feet tall by 2 1/2 feet wide chandelier hangs in a tree in the backyard.  Usually, it sits with tea light candles that I have to toss every few months because the weather simply gets them yucky.  I couldn’t light the candles…

it would start a forest fire.

Mason jars with cut flowers in some and battery candles in others dressed up the chandelier.  A piece of shabby burlap was tucked along the bottom.

To keep the cut flower from blowing out I cut three pieces of twine and tied a knot in the middle.  Then spread the twine over the top of a mason jar.  Then added the ring to hold the twine in place.  This acted like a frog to hold the flowers in place.

The outdoor chandelier lit the nights of family stories and laughs.  Lots of remembering when…how about the time….can you believe we did…

Then, there was a little family murder party too!  Poor Ida Hudsonpillar was found dead in a shallow grave.  Who at the family gathering would have done it??  Goofy crime scene tasks and clues lead the cast of characters to find the killer.

Poor Ida will be missed…sorta!!

Food prepared weeks in advance and frozen ready to heat and eat.  Made my chores easy.  My sweet, adorable, wonderful, funny, creative, incredible {continue inserting great adjectives here} brother brought Pringles in every flavor!!  If you closed your eyes could you guess the flavor?  I couldn’t.

Best Labor Day weekend ever.  Here’s to more fun goofy times and lots of laughs.

    1. Marie, we are a family that has loads of fun! I had such great response from the murder party I might have to make a download for others to create a family murder.

I’m copying and pasting my reply from above! Lol!

      I make a list of all family members that will attend. Give them goofy names and write a totally off the wall short story giving a brief intro to the cast of characters. Then I make a list of tasks like find a fingerprint, take a picture, look for an object. Things like that. Then a list of clues like newspaper paper articles, objects, airlines tickets, wills, fake money. The tasks and clues might be real or red herrings. {something that misleads, or distracts from the facts}
We do 3 to 5 sets of tasks and clues. Everyone gets at least one to two real clues through-out the party. We have to figure out the who had three things, motive, opportunity and means.

      Thank you!

      Jeanette

I’m thinking about developing a download to sorta fill in the blanks for readers to try with their families.

Thank you for the compliment on the chandelier!

Sorry you asked about the clues?? Lol! Jeanette

Guess I could have written, “I make them up!”
