When is an organ makeover a fireplace makeover?

When you tear apart an old organ, turn it into a fireplace, then makeover the fireplace for Christmas!

What is your favorite item to use in your holiday decorating?  A friend hangs beautiful wreaths.  My sister decorates with snowmen, and another collects vintage Santas.

I do trees.  It’s not planned.  I didn’t realize I do trees until this evening.

We have one official Christmas tree.  Plus, I spy with my little eye…

7 DIY trees.

Here’s a pile up of Christmas trees!  Do you ever wonder why something that seemed trivial years ago, are now all the rage?  I remember when bottle brush trees were….well…ugly!

Now I love them!  Specially the tall white one in the middle.

In the center tree is a dollar store frame tree, click to see how easy it is to put together.

On the left are wood scrap trees, click to see how I did them and added the “snow.”

I adore this mercury glass tree.  It uses batteries and I’m thinking we need one in every room.

On the end is a cloche vase filled with….bottle brush trees!  Oh, the wire spiral “tree” is the thingamugbob that held the metal star on top of our “actual” Christmas tree.  I used the star for another DIY project and clipped it off the thingamugbob!  But the thingamugbob makes a cool tree!

The cloche is filled with epson salt…and do you notice the glow?  Buried in the epson salt are small led battery lights.  I bought them from Amazon to use behind the plates on the dish tree.  Then a light bulb went off {get it} and I pushed a couple of lights into the salt!

The lighting in my vintage garland I ordered from Amazon.  It’s copper wire with tiny lights the size of a grain of rice!  These light will be perfect for year round decorating!!

  1. Love all of your creations! The cloche jar is beautiful with the glowing snow! I hope you figure out the 7ft. Bottle brush tree – if it can be done, you are the one to do it! I’m a tree collector too – driftwood, abalone shells, and wrought iron are my 3 favorite in my collection. Oh, and the crayon drawing my now grown son made me when he was little – decorated with spider webs, “because they’re so pretty and silvery Mommie”!!!
Great picture of you too Jeanette ?

    1. Andi, You’re the best! I saw a wrought iron tree in an antique store a couple of years ago and didn’t but it! I’m still kicking myself over that one. Spiders do life trees! Oh, you should see all the photos that didn’t make the cut! 😕 My other photo was 5 years ago and 50 lbs heavier!
