This is YOUR 21 days to add farmhouse style to your home.

As a reader of blogs, I’ve only signed up to one challenge.  I will admit the word “CHALLENGE” always frightened me.  I’m challenged enough in day to day activities, so do I want to add more challenges to life??  The challenge I signed up for was to cut stress during the holidays.  Challenged to reduce stress, seemed like an oxymoron.  In the end, I had a delightful collection of tips to reduce holiday stress.  Not so bad.

This is my wish for you during this challenge.  No stress.  Just a collection of easy, creative and inexpensive Farmhouse styled DIY projects.

You can do the project each day when it arrives in your inbox.  Or collect them to do on weekends.  You can plan to make projects along with the kids over a school break.  The projects are great for children with adult supervision.

Remember Create at your own risk.

Some days the project will involve field trips to gather inspiration.  Some projects you can combine with previous projects.  Projects may have various options or add your spin!

Projects take under 30 minutes to complete.

Here’s a video I made to introduce the DIY decorating challenge.

It’s harder than you would think to separate those sheets!!! 🙂

Here’s a list of basic stuff you will need for the 21 farmhouse projects.

{you will receive this list in your welcome email after you sign up}

Projects use items you just might have in your home.  You may be able to adapt items to what you have in your cabinets.

  • Approximately 1 cup of chalk type paint in your favorite color
  • Thrift store vases {3 about the same size and 3 smaller vases}  for different projects!
  • Paintbrushes
  • Twine
  • Sandpaper
  • Thrift store wood frame – make sure it’s wood.   Any size is fine.  {A reader bought an 8 by 10 thrift store frame that she uses for my free printable, frameable downloads.  After trimming the white edges the print fits and she has different prints each month.  That warmed my heart!}
  • Spray paint in your favorite color to decorate with
  • Permanent marker
  • Thrift store white glass dish {bowl, mug, plate, vase, frame, tray}
  • Old map
  • Thrift store tray in any material.
  • Toilet tissue roll
  • Small pieces of lace or ribbons in vintage colors
  • Baking soda
  • One or two Pieces of wood 12 inches long {think paint stick or ruler!}
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Square scarf one that’s 28 inches square
  • Couple of handfuls of wooden clothespins {spring type}
  • Square toss pillow 16 inches
  • Plain napkin rings
  • About 1-yard burlap
  • Mod Podge
  • Freezer paper {found in grocery stores} or 8 1/2 by 11 freezer paper here.  Or transfer paper { you can order transfer paper here }
  • 3 tin soup cans, 10 – 14 oz size.  Cleaned and make sure there are no sharp edges inside rim
  • 1 cup of latex paint in a favorite vintage color
  • Printer for download printable projects.  If you don’t have a printer, use a thumb drive.  Copy the download to the drive.  Any copy center will print the download for you for a small amount of change.

  1. I really want to do this but we are in the middle of moving. Can I still sign up and play catch up when we finally get our household goods?

    1. Hally, Yes as long as your email stays the same or you update your profile if it does change. I have several people saving them up for vacation time. Each day has a printable of the project too. So you can print them out and keep as a little booklet. Some have variations too. How you enjoy the projects. Thank you so much for following along.
